抓住文章是托福閱讀主干理解文章的最好方法
In everyday life, people tend to have a different approach to those they consider their equals from that which they assume with people they consider higher or lower than themselves in the social scale.
1. 劃線部分為句子的主干，其中that為代詞，指代approach, 此處譯為方式最為貼切，因此主干的意思很簡單。
2. 句子另一個(gè)難點(diǎn)就是代詞that后緊跟了一個(gè)which引導(dǎo)的定語從句，令人在視覺上感到奇怪，其實(shí)that在此就是approach跟定語從句就是必然，否則就不知所云了
3. 句中還有兩個(gè)省略了whom的定語從句，將之補(bǔ)全如下：
In everyday life, people tend to have a different approach to those (whom)they consider their equals from that which they assume with people (whom) they consider higher or lower than themselves in the social scale.
whom 在定語從句中都做了consider的'賓語(前者相當(dāng)于為consider whom their equals雙賓語的用法，后者相當(dāng)于consider whom higher or lower賓補(bǔ)的用法)
4. 直譯如下 (我是盡可能地直, as "直" as possible)
在日常生活中，人們傾向于用一種方式去對待他們認(rèn)為與自己社會地位同等的人，而采用另一種不同的方式去對待他們認(rèn)為比自己社會地位高或低的人。
5. 意譯如下
在日常生活中，人們采用什么方式對待其他人，這主要取決于對其社會地位的判斷，對與己地位等同的人采用一種方式，而對與己地位不同的人則采用截然不同的方式去對待.
